Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy

The Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy service at Springfield School is provided by the NHS. The team of specialist children’s physiotherapists, occupational therapist and therapy assistants work across the school - Foundation Stage/ Primary and Secondary/ Post 16.

Children who have been referred for physiotherapy and/or occupational therapy are assessed, and their needs identified. These will be discussed with parents; school staff and other members of the team and a physical management plan will be implemented. This could involve physiotherapy treatment, positioning in specialist seating and standing frames, hydrotherapy, home exercises and advice to enable children to reach their maximum physical potential.

Occupational Therapy intervention may involve a programme of activities provided for therapy assistants or parents to complete, positioning advice or adapted strategies, to help further a pupil’s independence with tasks of everyday living.
