Admissions Policy

Admissions

Springfield School is a maintained special school for children and young people aged 4–18 across our Crewe and Wilmslow sites.

All pupils attending Springfield School have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

Springfield provides specialist education for children and young people with a range of complex special educational needs, including:

  • Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)

  • Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)

  • Autism (ASC)

  • Complex communication and interaction needs

  • A combination of the above needs

How admissions are arranged

As a maintained special school, admissions to Springfield are managed through the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) statutory assessment and consultation process.

The Local Authority is responsible for consulting with schools and for determining the school or type of provision named in Section I of a child's or young person's EHCP.

Parents and carers who would like further information about requesting a special school placement, the EHCP process or SEND provision within Cheshire East should contact the Cheshire East SEND Team.

Further information about SEND, school placements and the Cheshire East Local Offer can be found on the Cheshire East Council website.

Springfield welcomes enquiries and visits from families considering specialist provision. However, a visit to the school does not constitute an offer of a place and all admissions must follow the statutory EHCP consultation process.
