Therapies

We have close links with the NHS Speech Therapy team and they based on site one day a week and are heavily involved in supporting pupils, parents and staff.

We also have links with other NHS services such as OT, Physiotherapy and 0-19 school nursing service, and they visit pupils in school in line with the local NHS offer, however, they are not based on site.

The NHS in Wilmslow is under East Cheshire NHS Trust, whereas Crewe is under Mid Cheshire NHS Trust.

Speech & Language Therapy

There is a team of two that make up the SALT team, and they are based in school one day a week, and cover all of the pupils under the service in school.

Our SALT service can provide the following services in Springfield:

  • One-to-one speech and language therapy - Typically one-to-one sessions will be delivered by a Speech and Language Therapist or Assistant in a room away from the classroom.
  • Group and whole class work – Some children will benefit from an approach to therapy that involves the whole classroom and all their teaching staff.
  • Close liaison with School staff, providing training and supervision on how to support speech, language, and communication needs.
  • Share information with all key individuals involved in the pupil’s education.
  • Work closely with children and young people and their families/carers to provide tailored support.
  • Assess physical feeding difficulties.

The team in school are:
